My love of photography stems from a young age with memories of old black and white photos, color Polaroids, and viewing family vacation photos on a slide projector. My dad always had cameras and took family photos and my mom organized and dated the pictures; she also scanned in all of the old slides into the computer. My mom is sentimental and saving memories from the past was always important (and still is).

My mother eventually got into scrapbooking to creatively save and share memories and she is very good at it. All my photos are scanned into the computer too, along with my parents' photos. I now have a huge digital library, which improves space, organization and accessibility.  I am thankful for the influence of my dad's cameras and picture taking and for my mom's organizational skills and sentimentality.

I was fortunate to do some volunteer photography at work and some of my photos won contests and are hanging on the walls so it's pretty cool that I got to leave a part of me at my company of 28 years.

This hobby requires knowledge, patience and timing and the rewards are worth it. I love the ability to creatively capture and freeze memories that live beyond ourselves. In addition to bringing me great joy, I have discovered that the very act of photography is an expression of my appreciation of life while slowing me down to provide much needed peace and quiet to this energetic soul.
