Wild Life: Arizona
The pictures below were taken in our Arizona backyard. I used an underwater camera to capture our koi fish; we had to leave them in AZ when we moved to Hawaii but they are in good hands. The dragon flies would hang out in the yard sometimes for hours. I captured the green-eyed dragon-fly with a video capture; while playing it back, he appears to crack a smile so I call it the smiling dragonfly. I won photo contests with both of the dragonfly photos so they are hanging up at my former employer.
This was shot in 2009 while hiking in Arizona. I was surprised it came out considering the lack of time I had to prepare and shoot a moving object. It was a lucky shot!
Our Former Pets
Sheba was Ken's dog when I met him; she was such a peaceful, sweet baby and was with us until 2001. Then we decided to get a bird (Tequilla). After a few years, we though she could use a companion so we acquired Kiwi. Both were very entertaining and lovable and are greatly missed.
Love Birds
They showed up by our waterfall/koi pond in Arizona after we lost our birds. These birds are not native to Arizona; rumor has it that some escaped from a local pet store and started breeding. We always ensured there was bird food in the yard so they would continue to come visit us daily. Besides being great subjects to photography, they brought us great joy just watching them and listening to them sing.
Prince Ingles
Not sure if this should be in wild life or portraits! It was an annual ritual to pose Prince for his mom and our cousin (Deb Ingles) every Christmas. He was such a character and so adorable and is no longer with us. It's so nice to have these pictures to go along with all the wonderful memories we have had with him and the Ingles over the years.
